Flash and jQuery

Flash Benefits, Drawbacks and Considerations

Flash: You can do almost anything you can think of in Flash. It’s just amazing. You want a guy walking across the screen or a simple transition for your home page header? Flash can do them both. Of course with all good things in life there are drawbacks.

Flash Benefits: Flexibility, and Possibilities.

Flash Drawbacks: Not viewable on Mobile products (Iphone, and IPad) (You can view on Android). Not SEO friendly (If you make entire site Flash, A little Flash won’t hurt) Resource Hog (Can load slowly on low performing computers, or networks with low bandwidth).

Considerations: You need to consider whether or not your website needs to be seen on a mobile device. If not, then Flash is a great choice.

jQuery Benefits, Drawbacks and Considerations

jQuery (JavaScript): A lot times clients will choose a jquery module over Flash depending on what they need. jQuery is strong where Flash is weak. jQuery has a fast loading time, and won’t affect any SEO efforts. There is one main drawback, jQuery just isn’t as scalable as Flash.

jQuery (JavaScript) Benefits: Mobile friendly, Fast, and SEO Friendly.

jQuery (JavaScript) Drawbacks: Not as scalable as Flash. jQuery Will not do near as much.

Considerations: Most clients use jQuery for page headers, portfolio projects, and any time you are using a mobile device.
